Infrastructure of WALMI


The campus has been developed in area of 37 acres of land. It has an administrative building called Sansthan Bhawan, 128 bedded hostel for trainees, a Guest House having 8 suites called Kisan Bhawan, residential accommodation for all faculty members and staff, Bank (Bank of Baroda), D.A.V. Public School up to +2 level and Telephone Exchange. WALMI provides a congenial academic atmosphere for training and research activities in the campus with all necessary infrastructure like air conditioned conference hall, 250-seated auditorium, 35 seated committee room, canteen, repographic section, four class rooms (each 40 seated). Offices of Bihar Institute of Public Administration and Rural Development (BIPARD) under Government of Bihar, National Water Development Agency (NWDA) and Centre for Flood Management Studies, a wing of National Institute of Hydrology (NIH) under Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India are also located in WALMI campus.

Library


Besides above infrastructure, there is a rich library. It is located on third floor of Institute Building consisting of air conditioned reading hall, stock room, issue counter, about 10,000 books are available on different subjects as – Irrigation, Water Resources, Environment, Human Resources, Agriculture, Economics, Sociology and Computer Science. The library facility is available for the participants of various training programme and research scholars. The proceedings of many important conferences and seminars in the field of water resources engineering and irrigation water management are also available.

Computer Centre


This centre was established with a view to impart training primarily to the officers of WRD. Many useful topics related to Computer and Internet are included in different training courses so that the participants can take advantage of newer trends/ tools of information technology to enhance their productivity. Courses specific to the requirement of the departments viz PERT/CPM, Concept of E-mail & Networking Technology, Internet etc. are included in the training courses. To impart such trainings, the centre has two IBM servers having diverse operating systems and 30 nodes on LAN.
